Hi all,

I've got an upcoming solo exhibition and am scouting around for a place to print around... 10 - 20 prints (Potentially B&W and maybe color) any reviews out there for IlfordLab?... or a best suggestion for mail order prints that look great (and not too expensive!!!)

Hi Jim. I always use these people linked below. They are totally professional, give a great service, will work with you to produce exhibition prints if you want to go to that level of involvement, or you can get some outstanding digital prints (produced via an optical process and not ink printing). I would never go anywhere els for my printing, either professionally or personally.

Edit: because they do not use ink, b/w prints look amazingly like silver halide prints. I have five b/w prints from them, mounted, framed and hung in my lounge. When a mate of mine saw the quality, he sold his Leica R9 film camera and went digital. The printing is superb.

Hi keith I`m looking for the same initially for some black and white prints. Did you go with lustre, glossy or metalised finish - any particular recommendations.
Have you done any albums with them to advise on ease of setting up / print / build quality?

Hi Jinky, I always go for glossy. This is because I have found it aids sharpness. However, for my next printing job I am going to try some metallic prints. I understand that this is the way to go for really great, long lasting prints.

One of the problems with b/w prints I needed to sort out was magenta casting. I spoke via email with One Vision Imaging and they told me that they use an optical process and not an ink process, so there is no colour casting whatsoever. In fact, prints look very close to silver halide prints on the wall.

No, I haven't done any albums with them.

I always put images for printing on disc and send it to them. They give you all the info you will need to format and forward images.

This is one of the five images that One Vision did for me and it was a superb job.

Hi guys

I just tried One Vision on Keith's recommendation above, wow, seriously impressed with the quality of the output. I printed a 15" x 10"copy of the picture below (a tidied-up version of the one I won the weekend comp with a couple of weeks back), and I have to say they did a cracking job, lovely depth in the blacks and sparkling whites.
