opinons please which shot is more emotive?

My next door neighbour is looking after a puppy that was unwanted by it's owners (poor thing is only 10 weeks)
anyway i was testing out my new 60d in the bright sunlight and thought about capturing emotions in photographs. of the 3 different crops which do you feel shows more emotion. i just want to get some opinion so i can use it more in my own photography. the shot is not necessarily a brilliant shot but hopeful;y it will demonstrate what i am after.

no 2

no.2 for me as well, though I'd have cropped it just below the end of his nose.

It depends what you're going for...

Shot one is a close crop of the eyes, which arguably show a person's (puppy's) emotions without clouding the issue with surrounding imagery.

Shot two doesn't feel like a good crop, it doesn't appear to have reason.

Shot three is a good wide crop, and conveys a sense of hopelessness, as the full expanse of the fence / cage can be felt.

Does that help at all?

thank you i see your point about no2 and the crop that is why i thought i would post it up for opinion personally no3 was my favorite of the 3 but not everyone is of the same opinion and people like different things.

it is interesting though much a simple crop can affect the whole mood of a shot though.

I like #3, shame its head wasn't leaning to the side which I would have thought be even more emotive.

#3 I what to go home
I like all 3
but the 3 one tells a story

well just to end the little fellas story off with a happy ending he is being picked up on Wednesday and is off to a new home with people that are travelling quite a distance to pick him up.

why 2 .just to clarify it somehow has a greater intensity .Though I would have taken it a bit further out to iclude the rest of the nose.

yes that is what i meant the crop could have been a little better but as there only test shots i was quite happy with them anyway.
