Are there any Cricket photographers out there who can help.
I am looking for some tips on shooting cricket ,anything that would help me improve my skill would be great.

Had a quick look at your site and they look quite good. Need to know what lenses and camera you use for the shots. :D

Thanks for taking a look OldBoy.
Most of the shots on the site were taken with a Nikon D 80 with a Sigma 170mm 500mm f5 - 6.3 for the distance stuff.
I have very recently been fortunate to have upgraded my gear and am now shooting with a Nikon D300 , I have also sold the family silve (not told the wife yet)r and have invested in a Sigma 300mm 2.8 prime although I have not had much chance to use it yet.
Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark
it's difficult to advise you to do anything differently, Use two cameras if you've got them and different lenses, just stick to the wider apertures and fast shutter speeds for shallow depth of field concentrate attention on the subjects, stick to jpegs and shoot with the fastest burst speed you can as you never know exactly what will happen after the initial shot. Look at the pros stuff on cricinfo.
You don't need to break the bank, check out the old compatible manual focus lenses, I've used my pentax fit lenses for about 20 years.

There's always plenty going on on the field beside batting and bowling,

Great shots, David. I like the sequence shots especially. You actually make cricket look exciting lol

Inspired by this weeks competition movement. I used to be a reasonable spin bowler.

Well, the D300 is the successor to the D200 which I've got, so should be very good for cricket shots. I've taken cricket shots with my 70-200mm F2.8 and if I want extra reach stick a 1.4 or 2x converter on it. A zoom is better for cricket shots, for when the ball is hit towards a fielder near where you are positioned, as a 300mm prime might not get the shot in context. :D
