Amy
I can't believe its come around so quickly! :-) I like the categories and the new system is better too. It was a huge jump before from £10,000 to the smaller prizes. This seems fairer. I don't mind paying to enter but can see it putting some people off. Karen |
Yes it`s a shame that an entry fee has been imposed which I am sure will put off a large number of potential entrants though 50 entries for the £10 is not too bad.Nice that the prize money will be more spread out though. Be good to see the themes soon.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So, from the largest photographic contest of its kind in the world to . . . . how many people are going to pay? I am unemployed and can't even pay attention, so how am I going to enter? Before you say I can use a credit card, I don't have one. SO seriously, how am I and others like me going to enter? And taking other currencies into consideration, and the exchange rate, it may just become quite costly to enter. Shame on you DC!
Regards, Denise |
PS: It used to be 100 images for free (10 images in 10 categories) - at least you should keep the number of entries the same if you are going to charge people for the 'privilege' of entering.
I think you have made a big mistake by doing this. Harumphhhhh. |
Is it April 1st yet ? U want peeps to pay £10 to enter for a measly £1500.
If 10,000 peeps enter that's £100,000 in ur coffers, where is that money going? Trashy prizes and trashy asking peeps to pay . Bet u won't get half ur qota of last years entries Levi James |
No entries from me this year then!
I sell my work, and on principle certainly do not pay anyone for the priviledge of viewing it in any format what so ever! Always so sad to see things turning into a Lottery and now considering pulling out of here altogether; if the PR Admin running the Gallery / forum is behind the idea of such exploitation of this fine Art / Proffession. |
I have never entered (been a subscriber for years) & probably wouldn't have entered this year, not because I have a thing against entering competitions, it's just that I am never organised enough to actually send anything in.
However, I definitely wouldn't enter a competition which demanded payment as a condition of entry. It will be interesting to see a) how many people enter this year compared to previous years & b) what effect it has on the quality of the competition & entries. Could it be that it is just too unwieldy & one way to put off people entering is to cut the amount of entries they can submit & introduce a fee. maybe we'll see a big rise in the quality? |
Oh c'mon your having a laugh. You've added an entry fee but reduced the winnings?
Last year one hundred and fifteen thousand entries which to my way if thinking equates to at least twenty thousand entrants ; at ten pounds a pop would bank you two hundred thousand pounds . Top prize £1500 plus I'd guess a jessops voucher. I repeat your having a laugh guys . You should be ashamed. |

You should be ashamed.
Who needs £1,500 when you can get a Jessops voucher? ;) Pay-for-entry never interests me so I'll pass from now on! :( |
