PDF Printing help req'd
I have to travel on Monday and have purchased Easijet tickets for which the boarding passes appear, and are downloaded and saved, as pdf documents. For some reason I cannot print them out and cannot figure why not. Whilst this is not a photography problem I imagine there is some kind soul out there who can suggest something I might be doing wrong. I have tried saving as a text document but get just that and it doesn't look anything like the boarding pass or have the bar codes etc. Apologies in advance to anyone who thinks this shouldn't be here but it is a printing problem of sorts. Thanks

PDFs normally open in Adobe Reader (version 9 seems to be the latest). When you click on a link to a PDF file you should see it in Reader (but still within your web browser)..... and there's a printer icon on the top left hand corner of the document itself. Clicking on this should bring up Reader's own print management dialogue. You should have your printer selected at the top and it should indicate 'Ready'..... if all this is being done then it must be some other problem involving the computer/printer.

Um, yes. On my PC, pdf documents that were created before version 9 appear as they always did with various menu boxes at the top including the print option. However, when I download more recent documents those menu options at the top no longer appear raising the question for me.......well how do I now even save a copy. The answer believe it or not came by accident LOL. If you move your mouse towards the bottom of the open document a splash screen (faint) pops up giving you the option to save and print etc. If you move your mouse away from this pop-up it disappears again. It's a nice feature from Adobe in reducing screen space but I wish they'd told me about it first.:) I wonder if this could be tied to your problem.

Once again my thanks to you two. The answer should have been obvious to me but it was your mention of what I should see in Adobe Reader which was the clue. When the document opened I had not had the menu options you both mentioned. Then I saw it had opened in PDF Viewer and I could not find Adobe Reader. It had gone missing during the recent new HDD installation and I had not spotted that and hence had not re-installed it.
The good news is that I've downloaded it and it opened the docs and printed them without hitch. Many thanks ( once again! :)) Dagwood |
