Water Droplet Macros
Not sure where to posts these - where do macros come in on the specialist forums?
Anyway, I got a high speed photography setup this week & these are the very first efforts with it. Cool shots, the first really rocks for me; a nice contrast in the B&W. I like the third one too, it works well in the portrait frame.
|
cheers Andy,
though the first shot isn't actually B&W, it's just that the other 3 had a blue gel on one of the two flashguns. |
For first efforts, these are very good Garry. I like them.
Something that I keep meaning to try for myself. |
been playing with the flashgun gels today...

V. cool shots Cathus. Excellent.
Can you share the setup? When you say high speed, how high speed are we talking? Cheers, Sie |
These are brilliant shots :-) You have done a terrific job with these! I think there should be a new category in the special interest forums called Art/Experimental because these would fit there. I struggled with my pig mask shot so put it in portraits when really it wasnt a portrait but just an experiment.
Did you put water in a tank for the water drops? Karen |
Fantastic shots ! Favs for me 1, 3, 6, 7 & 10, but they're all good.
They completely fascinate me, the fact rain does this every time it hits a puddle and most of us are too busy seeking shelter to marvel at it's beauty. Perfect captures ! I saw some interesting ones done with Milk and Food Colouring, just in case you get bored of water any time soon... |
Thanks guys,
Sie, between 1/9000 & 1/27,000 of a sec, which is the duration of the flash depending on what setting it is on. Basically, I have a timer system which drops a constant sized droplet of water through a beam, the beam triggers the flash. The camera shutter is open (until I familiarise myself with setting it up to be triggered by the timer also) & captures what is frozen by the flash. Karen, the water falls 2 feet into a cooking dish of water, maybe 2/3 inch deep Eyeayen, yep seen those too, stay tuned! |
