Yep, saw that. It seemed that Rankin was initially very enthusiastic, encouraged by Michael Sheen's attention to detail, but after struggling to recreate the Jane Russell image he seemed to lose interest in the project and approached the rest somewhat half-heartedly.

In the iconic original Wild One image Brando leans on a Triumph motorbike, as ridden in the film, but actor Matthew Rhys was given a Harley Davidson for the shoot - similar vintage, wrong make. Yet when the final images flashed up at the end of the programme Rhys had mysteriously acquired a Triumph/Harley hybrid - the Harley with Triumph's well-known tank badge superimposed. Artistic licence or simple Photoshop fakery? Hmmm :( - why bother?

The highlights for me were Terry O'Neill's characteristically down-to-earth contribution and the lesser-known gallery images of Marylin Monroe.

I was lookiing forward to seeing this and it didnt dissapoint me..I do agree that he (Rankin) seemed to get a little ticked off with the lighting issues for the "Jane Russell" image, a few raised eyes and a bit of eye rolling....

The picture, which I felt turned out well was great, actually I rather liked the result though the wig was wrong and the make up was far too dewey in my opinion..it would have been far more matt when the original with Miss Russell was taken which in turn would have flattened out some of the facial highlighting that was a problem on the Rankin shoot. I particularly liked the Slema Blair/Faye Dunnaway reproduction..

Interesting program..It would be nice to see a program about his work with Alex Box
