Have I been living under a rock?

How did I miss the fact that the website was changing completely and that all the galleries would be deleted as a result? Did everyone get emails to tell them of the changes? Am I missing something here? Do I need to do something to sync the old gallery or is that it now? Do I really have to upload everything again?

Sorry for all the questions - currently sitting here trying not to pull my hair out as my simple brain can't quite get to grips with this!

Um..

1. don't know - it's been on the DCM forums for quite a few months now.
2. no, not everyone, but pretty much everyone on the DCM forums
3. yes
4. no, I think it's too late now. The DCM site is closed down.
5. yes

Hope this helps,
Hugh

It must have been a pretty big rock.

How about the magazine? Is it still the same? Or are they also discontinuing it?

Just as dear :(

Hello Soodge,

I'm sorry to hear you missed out on hearing about the launch of PhotoRadar and the closure of DCMag. We did publicise it extensively on DCMag and also through emails. I'm afraid you will have to upload everything again, apologies.

Rach

Digital Camera magazine remains exactly the same, as does PhotoPlus magazine.

That's one pretty big rock :)

It was an enormous rock - clearly!

Oh well - shame that all the photos have disappeared from the gallery - I'm just glad that I've got them all saved elsewhere. Not sure if I can be bothered to create a new gallery - I'll ponder that one for a while!

I was a member of DC Mag forums for quite some time and I did not receive an email which I find slightly strange - c'est la vie.

Soodge

If it's any consolation I was a fairly hefty contributor to DCMAG as it was as well, and I knew the site was clsoing and that we would not be able to transfer images etc, and it also took an age for my "Invite" e-mail to arrive (did you think to check your spam box? as that is what I had to do)

However I've been dropping in here as and when I've been able to and hope to do so some more now, and I have to say it does seem to be an improvement on the old DCMAG site, some people have left which is a shame but there are some old faces on here as well HEVANS/OLDBOY/ABERS/BLANDFORDP/DAISIEMATULIP/BOLTONDAVE to name but a few, there is an issues with what is being perceived by most of us (me included) as a "rights grab" on images posted in the galleries but that is a side issue to what on the whole seems to be an improved site. So stick around and give it a chance I reckon it will be worth it.

Hi Keith,

I would like to add that we're having our T&C's changed - anything that involves legal departments often takes a few weeks, but we hope to be in a position to offer more 'photographer friendly' T&C's soon.
