cleaning sensor
Does anyone have any advice on cleaning my sensor i have a couple of spots on it and just seem to be moving them around
Thanks T-bone:confused: |
What have you tried with so far?
I use an artic butterfly which is good for cleaning off spots that are stuck by static charge, and a rocket blower for other light dust spots. If you've tried both of those then you may need to look at wet cleaning it, but the kits can be fairly expensive and if done wrong can result in smearing, so you might prefer to take it to a shop to be done (Calumet have sensor cleaning days around the country). |
Rocket blower, then a few passes with a SensorKlear pen, then finish with rocket blower. My camera? An EOS 5D.
Over the past 18 months of using this method (Canon service use them too) I have reduced dust bunnies to almost zero. I now only give the sensor a quick clean, and often only with the blower, once every couple of months whether it needs it or not. Dust is almost a non-problemo these days. |
Best results I've had (after many a similar post) was to get most specks off with a blower and then use sensor swabs and Eclipse fluid.
I did find a website which listed what all the major service centres used and most seemed to be swabs and fluids, although often proprietary versions. |
Thanks for your help everyone I shall have a go;)

After having a go myself with cleaning a particularly dirty sensor (seemed to have oil on it that smeared) that ended up even worse, I took it to the Nikon service centre here who cleaned it up beautifully for 30 Euros. Quite reasonable, I'd say.

Hello, I have a sony a350 and I have had excellent results when there is a point or more in sensor, I use Q-Tips carefully only removes that point and ready. other systems fill lines and more points. Only the tip of the Q-Tip, a slight movement and was removed. I personally worked very well.
I do not use any type of liquid and a dust-free place ( toilet ) |
