Canon Predictions for 2011
So, what would you like to see from Canon in 2011?
There is sure to be a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark IV on the horizon but I'd also like to see a 2000D too. The 1000D is drastically due an update and it would be interesting to see what Canon think is necessary technology for an entry level camera. Also, if I could have ANY Canon prediction fulfilled it would be a Mark II version of the 50mm f/1.4... because I need a reason to update my lens collection and that would be perfect, thanks! ;) |
Sadly, it doesn't matter what they release as I've spent all the money I can for a couple of years or more (from a purely selfish viewpoint) and the 1Ds MkIV will be out of my price-range for a number of years to come.
If they have any new lens releases it would be great if they weren't double the price of the ones they replace (like their 70-200 MkII & 300 MkII) |
I know the feeling, Cathus! As much as I'd like to get my hands on a 1Ds Mk IV, I think the closest I'll get is a loaner one from Calumet if they ever have them in stock.
The good thing about Canon releasing new lenses is that it pushes the price of older stock down, which means that they're much more affordable. 70-200mm f/2.8 Mk I on eBay, you will be mine! |
if the price of a 300mm f2.8 MkI was pushed down by about 70% I'd be there!
|
Haha! I'll let you know if I spot any. ;)
Now, if a 24-70mm f/2.8L were to be delivered discreetly to my desk, I certainly wouldn't complain! |
I would love the canon 14mm lens but its way too pricey .

I would like to see a 25% price reduction right across their entire product range. Now that would truly be revolutionary.

I'd like to see a year when nothing is developed/improved/released - just as I start to catch up with a body upgrade (camera, not personal ;) ) they go and move the bar again leaving me woefully behind again. Please, let me feel almost current for a little while :)

The 500D will be sticking around for a while by the looks of it. The 5D MKIII should be out sometime next year, along with something in the 1Ds range. 7D replacement is rumoured for 2012. |
I reckon there will be a 5D Mark III. Why bother replacing the 1000D just drop it and make either the 450D or the 500D the new entry level?
How about a new 30mm prime or an update to the 28mm prime to compete with Sigma's 30mm prime? This would make a great standard lens for APS-C users. |
