Past article featuring Photo Book creation software and publishers?
Does anyone recall an article in photoplus, possibly some time last year, that featured a look at Photo Book creation software and suppliers?
I've done a search of this forum and can't find reference to it. It could be it was in another future publication, but I have a vague recollection of it appearing in the pages of Photoplus. If so, could you tell me which volume the article was printed in? Many thanks in advance, Rick. |
Hi Rick,
We've covered different aspects of photo books several times in PhotoPlus, but here are a couple of articles that particularly spring to mind: Issue 27 - Skills Section - 5 Minute Technique: How to create a photo book Issue 35 - Mini Test: Photo books I'll continue to dig around in our archives for more! |
I particularly recommend the feature from Issue 27 ;-)

Many thanks Carly and Amy.
I briefly scanned the covers of all the back issues I have but didn't see what I was looking for. I tried searching the website but there was no sign there too. it was then I decided to make my posting as a question posed on these forums almost always results in an answer. I was going to set myself the task of trawling through them all tonight if I had not had a reply today. I really appreciate you putting me in the right direction and will look up the articles you have listed when I get home this evening, provided those weren't the issues that got eaten by the dog or thrown out in error! |
You'll see why I recommend it when you find it tonight :)
P.S. You might also find the following article useful if you're planning on creating your own: http://www.photoradar.com/techniques/tips/create-your-best-ever-photobook Some handy hints for layout and the such like. |
The somewhat corporate Avatars gave the game away! Congratulations on your 1st anniversary and thanks again for the reply; you are a prodigious contributor! I've found the articles listed above and they are very informative for what they are. I was rather hoping for an in depth review of on line photo book suppliers, as I'm undecided which software to use.
I have short listed three companies that all seem to offer something different, and downloaded the Cewe software under the Jessops banner, Blurb's Booksmart and lastly My photobook. I've looked at Photobox which seems a comprehensive package, but is limited to being an on line software "form" rather than a download design and edit program. I had already started a thread here: http://www.photoradar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3538 Which strictly speaking would probably have been better placed in the "Printing and Presentation" section of the forum. Feel free if you see fit to move it to where you consider it should have originally been placed. All the best Rick. |
I'm glad you managed to find what you were looking for.
I've actually used the Cewe printing service myself, and found it very easy to use. I've heard nothing but good things about Blurb too, so you should be good there too. I suppose the trickiest part is designing it and choosing which photos to include and in what order etc - book editors have my utmost admiration! And actually my first year anniversary was in June - my how the time has flown :) Thanks, Amy |
Go with Blurb. Great books for a very reasonable price when you consider the cost of putting prints into a decent portfolio album. But most of all a brilliant aftersales team who will be on your case from the moment you make a complaint if necessary.

Thanks for the recommendation Keith. It's reassuring that you found Blurb's after sales service so good.
Thanks again Amy, it sounds like you're really enjoying what you do. |
