Getting comments

My images never seem to get any comments or feedback - am I doing something wrong?

Hi Tim,

No, you are not doing anything wrong. I think that you will find (at least I do anyway) that the galleries are so cumbersome to navigate very few people bother.

Steve.

Don't worry Tim, as Steve says, not many people take the time or trouble to go through the galleries - they're not that user friendly.

Generally, I only comment on an image if it really stands out - be looking out for you ;)

Cheers
Andy

Just as an aside, I have just had a look at your gallery and you have some really nice shots there so no, I do not think that you are doing anything wrong. Have left a few comments for you, which brings us to another point, why can we not get notifications if someone has left a comment? Steve.

Absolutely doing nothing wrong. Images rarely get comments. It just takes shooting and shooting and sticking with it : )

Someone is going to rant about the poor design of the gallery portion of the site any moment now. Oh wait, I just did :)

And perhaps posting a few in the forum - or making a comment enticing readers to take a look. Participation seems to be the key.

Can anyone who posts their pictures in the gallery tell if anyone's looked at them? There appears to be no way of knowing, unless I'm missing something.

I know that many people are'nt keen on Flickr, but at least you know if anyone has taken the trouble to look. Comments are irrelevant unless you have specifically asked for constructive criticism, but there are threads on the forum for that.

I ocassionly glance into my gallery and pick up on additional comments from time to time, if the commentator has included a star rating that then shows up below the thumbnail/s

In many ways I think being able to star rate without having to make a comment may prove to actually encourage invite more comments, as things often work differently from what is expected

Interesting, I've just found some comments left without ratings - I prefer comments to ratings but I didn't know you could do that so have not seen these comments before... I hit the 'see all Andy's photos' and then chose the 'most commented' tab - was surprised when unrated images appeared above rated...

Now feverishly looking through for unrated comments and sending thank yous :)
