High speed flash 580 ex
 

To use the high speed shutter when you flash is off camera using transmitter, do you have to use ettl to get it to sync or can you go manual ?

I've read in the recent magazine that its not very intuitive. One of the things I'm trying to work out is whether I can remotely trigger the flash from my Canon 7D without the built in flash operating.
