Time for a makeover
Hi there - I've been reading Photoplus ever since the preview edition. Is it time for a makeover of the mag now? I notice digital camera mag has recently been updated?
It's still a great mag - maybe a little too much on Photoshop technique (if I was to be a little critical!!). I'm on the T3 mag reader forum and I wonder if Photoplus collects feedback from it's readers in a similar way? |
Photoplus is pretty much the way people like it I suspect.
I for one wouldn't want to see an overhaul or redesign as these tend to end up killing the mag. It happened with PIC (People In Camera) mag and shortly after went bust, Amateur photographer did it and out of the regular 20 or so people that used to buy that I knew, almost all hated it and stopped buying it. But that's my view ... Keep it the way it is ... :) |
maybe a little too much on Photoshop technique
I agree - Too much on Photoshop Elements - Not enough on CS5 :)
I would hate to see it change, though - It has had me galloping to the post for over three years now - Since No1 - and I wouldn't change anything. It is a good read. Still satisfies a need, too - my brother got a Canon 10-22 based on the last review, and he loves it. Bob |
Many thanks for all your comments - it is great to hear what you think.
No plans for a complete redesign of PhotoPlus at present. We will however continue to make tweaks and gradual changes - as we have done previously over the last 40 issues. We have some great ideas for the next few issues, and look forward to revealing these to our readers. You will be glad to hear that there are a few more CS tutorials in the issue that has just gone to press - as we appreciate not everyone sticks with Elements. Keep your thoughts coming. We listen to everything. We do reader questionnaires, which helps us guage what camera, software etc our readers use. But we talk to lots of readers too, through forums such as this, emails, at shows, at courses, and our regular magazine shoots with readers. Best wishes Chris |
Hi gang, first time contributor. Love the mag but usually just flip through the photoshop section. As a rank beginner I just want to improve my photos, don't see the point of printing the photoshop section when it’s all on the c.d. anyway. Wouldn't stop me buying the mag though, whichever way it’s presented.

Hi - I agree. I wonder if there is too much photoshop/processing info in the mag - would like to see more technique, more gear and more pics really. I flick through the processing stuff too which I think takes too much of the mag

What about some DPP tutorials, I would like to see more of them and don't skimp on the elements tutorials some of us have stuck with elements.
|
I would love to see more CS(5) material. I realise the publication isn't aimed at Pro photographers, but I bet there are a lot of members here that use Photoshop CS. That doesn't make them better editors than those using Elements, it's just not everyone uses Elements. It would be interesting to see a straw poll of what editing software member's actually use, be that an Adobe, Canon, Serif or other product.
What about some DPP tutorials, I would like to see more of them and don't skimp on the elements tutorials some of us have stuck with elements.
They did one issue that was all DPP tutorials. That was about a year or so ago.

Do you know what issue that was? DPP has been updated so maybe they could refresh the tutorials. As fo CS5 it very expensive so mast people stick with elements. |
