Walkaround lens for 7D

Hi Guys - I am looking for a decent walkabout lens for my 7D and am considering the Canon 15-85 or Sigma 17-70 with IS? Any views or alternative lenses that would give me better results than these two? Thanks Lee

Either of those would be great! Just a matter of your budget, really.

I can vouch for the 15-85 it is a lovely lens as a walkabout, I did have the other extreme of the Tamron 17-270 which I had originally on my 40D but didn't really think that did my 7D any justice so sold it and put the money towards the 70-200 F4L.

I found the combination of those 2 lenses was really good on holiday earlier in the year.

Thanks fellas - do you think that Canon warrants the extra cash? I've generally had sigma lenses before and have been quite happy but really want a half decent lens that will do the 7D justice. Ideally I would probably go for the 24-70 Canon L lens but I can't strecth to this at the moment (maybe on day!)

Sigma make a 24-70 2.8 woks for me on my 7d as a walk around lens

Hi Browndog - I am considering that lens as its an EX lens and looks good. It doesn't have stabilisation though - whereas the other two do - any views?

@ leeristol33 cant comment about stabilisation never had a lens that had that feature.

we just bought the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM lens and it rocks!

that said the nifty fifty will take some beating!
