Bad I.D.

In issue 38 the apprentice hot shot#2 is identified as a Lancaster, the aeroplane is in fact a Boeing B17G Flying Fortress, I would have thought with his vast experianceNigel the expert would have picked up on this if not at the time afterwards, or even someone in the office befroe it went to print.
yes I have attended air shows (we don't have any close to me now) and made sure I knew what I'd photographed.
I realise errors occure but this in my book is one that was avoidable.

Hi Swan Lover,

According to Carly, PhotoPlus did indeed get lots of emails regarding the misprint regarding the planes, she explains here:

Thanks,

Hi Swan Lover,

Amy is right - we've had lots and lots of e-mails about our misidentification!

And, of course, you are also right. It is actually a B17 Flying Fortress, not a Lancaster. We are really sorry that the wrong name was attributed to this hot shot and we really do have egg on our faces, considering that several members of the PhotoPlus team regularly attend air shows and even have family who have flown Lancasters!

We have taken a new approach to checking Apprentice and Help Me Buy features, by getting the expert to re-check the article as well as at least 3 members of the PhotoPlus team. Hopefully, this way, it will be much harder for mistakes to slip through the net!

Huge apologies and an extra day at aviation indentification school for us!

One thing for sure: NEVER make a mistake with a train. You will probably not hear the end of it!

Now this is getting difficult! I have to know trains as well as planes?! I think I'm going to have to take up an evening class...

There's a film planes, traiins and automobiles I suggest a evening class for cars as well Carly (only joking)

Ok! So planes, trains, cars... anything else? ;) My motorcycle recognition is pretty good, I think PhotoPlus needs to do much more of that!
