Getty on Flickr

I have been invited to submit some of my images on the Getty Flickr collection. Has anyone here any experience of this. They have a wide range of fees depending on the usage of the image but they do seem to want a lot of control over the distibution. Having said that most of the images would only be lying around my HDD anyway.

I've a few on there. They don't seem to sell to many but when they do they generally get a good price. If you're shot isn't doing anything else it's worth it just for the odd cheque now and then.

Getty were talking on Radio 4 yesterday. Apparenty they are looking for more unposed shots of ordinary people, almost more like family snaps. They said they have a big market for those shots. I've got plenty but I would be reluctant to sell shots of my family. Certainly it seemed to me that they take a large cut.

I have submitted several images to Getty via Flickr, no point in having images gathering digital dust, might as well see if they can sell!

I have a portfolio on Getty via Flickr (188 images to date), I must say that photos are selling quite well, I've been selling steadily for 8 months now. Getty takes a large cut of the income, but the selling prices are far better that microstock agencies, so if the alternative is leave the images on the hard drive, my suggestion is to try!

My Wife and i have also been contacted by getty for some of our images.

This seems like a very hard question to answer but what sort of money would you be looking at for selling an image?

Getty wrote me about one shot that someone wanted to license and I uploaded it but haven't heard anything since.

Didn't know about this thing on Flicker - not being a member can anyone give advice as to how you go about uploading etc is it the same as PR?
