Noktor 50mm f/0.95
US based Noktor have announced the 50mm f/0.95 prime lens for the micro 4/3 mount.
It's got a retail price of $750 and ships from April. It's the first product for the company so it'll be very interesting to see if it's any good. It's very very fast for $750! |
Can you get anything similar for the standard 4/3rds mount?

Not as far as I know.
There have been some huge aperture lenses throughout the years. Canon made an 85mm f/0.95 which went with the 7S rangefinder and they also did an EF 50mm f/1. Nikon also made a 50mm f/1.1 for it's rangefinders. Don't forget there was also the Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 released last year (to replace the f/1.0 model) but that's got an RRP of $11,000! If you could get hold of the Canon 50mm f/1.0 or either of the Leica Noctilux's you could get an adaptor and mount them on 4/3 but they're all painfully expensive. Thats why this is so interesting - for $750 it's either going to be complete cabbage or the deal of century! |
I investigated this and it looks like this lens is made by a company who make surveillance equipment. It will be interesting to see how it performs.
