Canon 50 Million EF lenses & a little history
Canon has recently announced that it has produced its 50 millionth lens, somehow worked out to be a 100mm IS L Macro lens, since the launch of the EF mount in 1987. Even more stunning is the fact that they have produced over 10 million lenses in under two years!
This huge leap in production must surely have something to do with DSLR technology becomming much more affordable to consumers, and a desire by the general public to embrace photography on a scale which was never seen in the days of film. For those with an interest there is a site which briefly outlines the history of Canon from it's first camera to the present day. How many people know the name is taken from Kwanon who is the Japanese (Buddhist) Goddess of Mercy.
