Sigma 530 DG super flashgun with Canon 350d...wireless trigger ?
 

Hi, I am looking to do some portrait and people shots in the coming months. It will probably be the first time I'm going to extensively use my new sigma ef-530 dg super which is yet to arrive in the post! I'm working with a 350d and want to create light backgrounds using the flash detached away from the camera. I'm setting up a small (home-made) home studio using some background white spreads etc...

Does anyone know whether I will need to buy a wireless flash trigger slave in order to use the flash for the shoot? I haven't done much flash photography so don't really know how to use the flash especially when using it off the camera. Will I have to set the flash to slave?

Also any advice on this type of photography in general would be useful, I was hoping to get bright portrait shots with illuminated backgrounds but more natural light on to fill the face as opposed to artificial light from the flash. Any advice at all would be great as you can tell I'm a complete beginner to this kind of photography, I was thinking of using my 50mm f/1.8 lens and maybe my 70-210mm if I can get enough light into it! thanks
