backing up photos when abroad

Hi

I'm looking for a reasonably cheap and lightweight way to back up my photos when I'm abroad. I'd did consider a netbook but as I sometimes backpack even that weight would be a pain. Anyone got one of these:

Cheers

That looks remarkably similar to an HD enclosure I bought a couple of years ago off ebay, bottom line is it does the job if a tad slowly but if you are not going to wait for it when backing up it is fine.

For the money they are good although you cannot preview your photos, there are far more expensive devices that will but then cost wise you are then into netbook teritory.

I am not sure about battery life though as I tended to recharge mine after doing a couple of backups but the battery indicator did seem certainly on my unit a tad on the pesimistic side.

Have you considered the option of internet cafe's who are more often than not very helpful to travellers? Ask them to backup your images to CD making two copies. One copy you post home, the second you keep with you so convering most eventualities.

Yes I have thought of that but to be honest I spend as little time in towns as possible. I'm mainly watching wildlife so tend to be in the sticks. In a recent four week trip to South Africa I never managed to get to an internet cafe during it's opening hours, so never even got chance to check my emails.
