CHAT thread ; WATER IN ANY FORM 8th to10th January 2010
Capture water in any of its forms; liquid, snow, ice, vapour etc. Anything goes from a cloudy snowy scene, a tropical island waterfall, to false teeth bathing in a glass. Seek the WOW factor; Concentrating upon achieving a good composition (to grace any wall or postcard) while exploring ways to highlight or emphasise the characteristics of the water's form before you. Best of luck and above all have fun. |
Nice one Andy !
Should cover everyone from those of use snowed in to those trying to put out Australian bush fires. I promise I'll get an entry in this weekend. |

Yes that should cover us all. If I don`t remember to lag my outside tap today I might have more water than I bargained for! Already got a plastic fall pipe from the guttering that has come apart and covered inn icicles. Good job we ae still in the minus temps;)

Tonight we are forecast -12 last night they forecast -8 and we saw -11 Manchester had -18 so based on that Manchester could be -20 tonight! In addition we are suposed to be getting some more heavy snow from around 03:00
I've been to stock up at Tesco, the roads were clear, but some peoples driving seems to get even worse in the snow I folloowed a white van back with him doing 10 Mph I kept thinking, iof he hits a slippy bit he'll be stuck because there won't be enough inertia to keep him going, I was sure he was so timid he was going to stop and abandon his car. There's a max min thermometer in the greenhouse, but I can't in because the weight of snow on branches has bent one across the door and I can't open it. Fortunately the log shed has enough for the next two weeks, although I did manage to turn my back into the 'corned beef' look that people used to get in the days before central heating. Luckily it's fading now! I've lost the TV the internet and the Telephone lines, this would be understandable if they were overhead lines, but they're not, and the whole area has been down intermittantly. We have not lost any power or the gas as some people have, but I'd be sat here with a smug grin on face if we did because a log fire doesn't need electric or gas! I have got plenty of candles ready too. There seems to be no end in sight to this, it's like living in a deep freeze. Please please check on the old people near you as they need to keep warm, and make sure that they have enough shopping in, and spare a thought for those sleeping rough, because I can't even begin to think how life on the street might be at the moment. |
I'm jealous of your picturesque snowy landscapes, but not jealous of the consequences flake is describing. We had some snow yesterday and for a while it even looked like it might stick, but it had all gone by teatime.
I'm pretty sure I can find some water somewhere. |
Well I went on a walk today and came across this scene - If I cannot come up with anything else I may have to revisit at the weekend.

We've just had our hottest decade ever apparently.

You shouldn't believe everything you're told . .
Example: in UK Met Office speak 'since records began' means since 1971. Meanwhile it was -20C in Paris last night. They had more than a foot of snow in Provence (on the Med coast) and there is no sign of a let up in the cold. And we still haven't had any of that photogenic white stuff here in the Dordogne (well, not since Wednesday, anyway, and that didn't settle). |
Here is water in any form. Ice on my front room window.
