Looking for a bag
 

Hi to all,
I'm looking for a bag to hold my gear in. I'd like a back pack really although not ruled out a shoulder type bag. I've been looking at Tamrac bags and also Crumpler ones. Has anyone any reviews on these? I like the look of the Crumpler bags, although i can't find any images of the insides of the bags to see what segregations are like.

Can anyone suggest anything other than these?

I use a lowepro 400 back pack.Takes an eos 50 d .100 to 400 lens .my wideangle zoom.standard zoom and macr lens .Top has room for flash and filters and spare batteries.and still space for a waterproof jacket.

Finally good tripod holder and an all weather rain cover.

All in all a brilliant piece of equipment.

This is almost impossible to answer as bags are personal things. I've had loads including Lowepro Slingshots, Tamrac Expeditions, Lowepro Nature Trekker etc.

Finally I seem to have got 2 bags which suit me. I use a Crumpler Muffin Top 7500 shoulder bag which is very good indeed and shows no signs of wear or damage and I don't treat it especially kindly.
I also have a Kata DP-465 rucksack which is excellent.

You don't day what sort of kit you're carrying but I can get my D90 (with grip), 10-20, 18-105, 70-300 and 35mm f/1.8 into both bags along with a remote release and a couple of filters etc etc.

As for segregation, they all have moveable inserts so you can adjust them to fit your equipment.

I'll be carrying around a Nikon D3000 18-55vr, 70-200, Nikon SB600 and a 35mm vr prime lense. With the possibilty of a few filters and some other bits and pieces. I'd like the option of carrying around my tripod also.

Honestly, bags are the hardest things to choose. I had a Lowepro Slingshot and didn't like the way it works at all so I sold it and replaced it with something else which I can't remember. Whatever that was it also didn't last more than 6 months before I sold it.

As I said above, I've had 2 Crumpler shoulder bags and they were both excellent. Well made, rugged and hard wearing and they look pretty cool as well. I've not had one of their rucksacks but I imagine they're as well made.
Tamrac are good quality and very good value for money but ended up with the Kata DR-465 backpack. They've just released a new one (called the DR-465i) which has a tripod mount on it as well. I've had Tamracs for a few years - started out with them as I wanted a bag that was big enough to not only hold some camera gear but other bits as well, allowing me to go out all day in wind, rain, hail or snow! Currently have a current generation Expedition 7 (but still have the older 8 for when I want to carry some serious gear!) and if travelling very light a thinkTank Streetwalker (which I was given to test - it's nice and light/compact but the padding/build is not great). Occasionally use a Tamrac Pro 8 if I'm not moving around too much
