Chat Thread " My Best Christmas Weekend Shot" 25th-27th december 2009

OK - nice easy one for what will be a busy time that is basically anything you like. Just your best shot taken over the Christmas weekend. For those not seeing them on the other thread Bob has been doing sterling work responding to rule queries / issues. As I understand it these are our guidelines for the future. Shots taken Friday, Saturday or Sunday can be entered is the main change.

Good luck all and have a wonderful Christmas!:)
General guidelines for the DCM weekly competition

1. To be valid images must be taken on the Fri,Sat,Sun of the competition, that is during Friday Saturday and Sunday in your time zone.

2. The subject must be set so that no one, will be excluded by limit of location, environment or equipment etc.

3. Generally there are no limits Post processing, unless the subject setter has specified basic adjustments only. Basic adjustments would be Levels brightness and sharpness etc. There is no restriction on equipment that can be used.

4. Images submitted after 12:00 UK time on the Monday may not be included as the poll thread must be set up. The poll runs for 2 days from the posting of the poll so that it generally ends mid day Wednesday.

5. The winner must set the new topic before Friday to give entrants time to think of ideas and get ready for the shoot, the competition starts on Friday, no images taken before that time are valid and will not be included in the poll.

6. The winner is then responsible for starting the Chat thread, Entry thread, and setting and managing the poll

7. Voters may not vote on their own image, the poll is set as open so you can see who appreciated your work.

Good one jinky nice and open on the very busy weekend, the wording o the rules does sound just right, but I'm not a writer, if anyone can tidy them up and post them in the correct thread it would be much appreciated.

A request to help you all andvme! I`ve just been reminded that we are going to join friends for an overnight stay in Pickering Sunday and Monday which will mean that I will not be able to put the poll up until my return on Monday evening. Given the festive break can I suggest that I accept all entries up until I move to post the poll which would be about 6.30 pm on Monday. Acceptable to all ? A few voices of support on here and I`ll insert it into the top of the entries / chat thread.

I'll do it for you on Monday at 12:00 if you like.

Well if you are sure Bob - would save messing the rules and me hashing the poll up. Could be a big turn out with a wide theme. If that`s Ok we`ll leave it with you then and I`ll get an early entry in before I go away. Thanks Bob.

Anyone would think it was Christmas- so quiet on here ;)

Hope you are all having a good one and not over-doing it too much. As I`m away for a couple of days now my entry is in to kick start some action.
On my way to the park for a shot of the sledging slopes I saw this match and felt I could not miss showing you a picture of the charity Christmas cricket match held in North Leeds every Boxing Day - rain or shine or even snow. Great stuff in this 20 20 game where between wickets snow ball fights ensued. In case you are wondering - he dropped this one! Scoring was not too impressive as the outfield was a little slow:)

If you can do the poll that would be great Bob- otherwise I`ll do it as soon as I get back on Monday evening. Good shooting guys and gals!

Well spotted Paul, not something you expect to come across in the middle of winter, definitely not one to be missed.
Merry Christmas.

Mine was taken on Christmas Evening on a beach near Rockingham. I took several of the sunset that was happening but this one grew on me. There are a couple of others on my gallery. One other option was this one.

I seem to be bugged by technical problems. I have now managed to resolve the link to Flickr but still can't upload the pic from my photos page here. Anyway, I'll delete all my failed attempts and maybe we could have a link to easy instructions for uploading from here (a bit like the google pages for setting up the poll) ...?
