Tripod offer
Anyone seen this offer from a company called Redsnapper?
http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=184010 I found it on another forum so I don't know if I can post it here but with Xmas coming up it's worth a look. I heard about it through a mate who just got one and I must say it really hacked me off as I recently paid more than double this for a Manfrotto 190 and head to find that the Redsnapper he had was better made and twice as sturdy.........ho hum :( |
When posting links it's a good idea not to use sites which require a user to log on! I can't get ppast the log on page.
For a long time I've been posting that Manfrotto tripods are not the qulity & design they once were. Unfortunately some people still believe that the power of a brand name is more important than its capabilities and buy them regardless. The Manfrotto 190 is a lightweight tripod and it's not the sturdiest one around so it might not be a fair comparison, even if it does cost twice as much. There are plenty of alternatives around in the tripod market, Giottos, Benbo Induro, and Calumets own brand, if you have money burning a hole in your pocket buy a Gitzo they actually come with all the parts Manfrotto charge you extra for and cost roughly the same when you've bought all the bits you need. Until the market votes with it's pocket Manfrotto will continue to offer products which are not as good as their price suggests they are, trading on their brand name. Recent reviews in magazines are also comming to the same conclusion including one which placed the Giottos in first place ahead of the Manfrotto (wish I could remember the mag!) |

Sorry about the link - I googled Redsnapper and got their website www.redsnapperuk.com Certainly looks like these boys have got their act together and are seriously supporting photographers instead of ripping them off. |
Bought a Redsnapper about one month ago and cannot fault it. I spoke to the guys in Redsnapper and they import the tripods direct so they cut out the middleman and the need to incur extra costs.Well worth a look and investment!!
