Your thoughts please

Hi I am new to this digital camera world after packing up my old zenith cameras and giving up photography over 20 yrs ago for work I have put some pics in the Gallery but I have linked one
to this post to see what you think.

Thanks Geoff

I like the idea of the leading line, but can't help but feel as though the thick white line is a bit of a distraction. It's quite dominant. To my eye it makes to bottom left quarter of the photo a bit redundant.
But I like the scene, and you've managed to keep detail in the sky and the foreground. Did you use any filters here?

No, there were no filters used, I took a few of this shot from slightly different angles trying to hide a little of the new sea wall behind the rail, I thought the rail would make a great leed into the photo but as you say the white wall is a little over powering perhaps in a few years it may darken and it may look better in a photo ( 1 to go back to in a few years)

Thanks Geoff

I quite like this shot Geoff but i think I would make even more of the white wall and railings by cropping the right hand side of the image off right up to the blue bridge , this gives more presence to the railings and results in a more abstract look .

For me the rails leads the eye out of the frame and the light is quite flat. As the sky is quite bland and not really adding anything I would crop a large chunk of it out.

I certainly prefer it to the original one Geoff but there might be a little too much going on in the background to make a good abstract , looks like a great place to revisit and play around with composition .

Hi Geoff, have you tried converting the image to black and white and playing with the contrast a little?
