Colors of Light through my lens
I am a new member and i would like to share one of my source of happiness -- Landscape Photography.
Photos from a recent trip to an uninhabited island west of The Philippines -- Capones Island (1) Cloudless, despite of that this sunrise shot worked because of an amazing pre-dawn light. (2) Wave Action, i'ts always interesting to shoot waves. Proper speed and timing is needed to make it work. (3) Image like this doesn't need description, it's beyond words. (4) Landscape photography is not for the lazy. Indeed, it is not. Images like this and those above can only be had if you can get out of bed faster than the sun coming out of the horizon. I wish i was able to contribute to this forum by sharing those 4 fave photos of mine from this trip. I will try to contribute as often as i can. That means getting off my bed in the dark hours of the morning frequently. Enjoy! :) |
Thanks for sharing some great images jonathan.
The 3rd one definately stands out but I also like the tones captured in the 1st & 4th sunrise shots. Looks like a stunning place for some seascapes. |
#3... boom!

You've really done these beautiful location justice with these amazing shots .
Really like all of them but number 3 does have it all . Mark |
It's not much use getting up before dawn here in the last twelve months as it's cloudy most of the time. :(
Cracking shots and well taken. :D |
Folks, thanks much for the kind words.
This little island does offer so much for a landscape photographer. There's a sunrise and sunset spots, infrared in the middle of the day, and if you are still up to it, star trails or milky way shoot at night won't disappoint. I guess, this will be the destination of the year as our 2-day weekend trip just barely scratches what this island offers. Cheers! |
So, the first weekend of April had been fantastic! The troops went out on a 4 day camping and photography trip in a remote cove west of The Philippine islands. We had been blessed with great light for most of the trip. I'll share some of my takes that i like best.
The first sunset on the cove. Awesome Blues and Golds! As soon as the light faded out of the horizon, we turn our attention to the burning bushes the farmers started so they can farm the land. It was such an experience seeing such a huge land area on fire for the first time. The crackling sound created by fire is quite scary. Feeling we have not shot the place well enough the other day, we went back to same spot. Again, the light was amazing! Another awesome set of images Jonathan. Stunning colour and tones.
They're all outstanding images of course but I think the shot of the burning fields will generate the most interest, it's certainly my favourite. The colours here are really beautiful and I like the contrast between the calming still water and the seemingly chaotic waves of fire. |
I totally agree with all gbryce has said , outstanding work some of the most beautiful landscapes I've seen .
