tamron lens
 

hey guys im looking at buying a tamron lens 70-300 mm for my nikon d5100.. ive seen 2 diffrent pictures on line of the same lens, the grip on the focus rings on one picture seems to be small and fine, and the other seems to be more like a large rubber grip (best way to describe it) does anyone know if theres any major diffrence between the two?

hi - i use canon, but i know tamron does 2 different 70-300 lenses. one is cheap and has a macro(ish) capability, the other is more expensive, has better glass and is stabilised. there's about £200 difference between them - are you looking at two different lenses?

no your fine, many thanks for your reply, im guess so, they both have the same make, details etc, i was just thinking was one an older version and one was a newer version, just wanted to make sure before i bought it

ok by chance some good soul on ebay was selling one of these and it turns out right enough these are the older style ones and it doesnt have af in the lens and as my 5100 doesnt have a af motor in the body then its not what im after.. mystery solved
