Prime lens for Landscape? no?

I have often wondered why there has never been any mention of say a Canon 50mm 1.8 used in landscape images...portrait etc...yes...but never landscape.
Why is that so?

Any tips welcome .

No reason you cannot use it. Normally for landscapes you want a very wide angle (or perhaps a narrow telelphoto view as well) with a small aperature so that everything is in focus. The nifty 50 is most useful for low light because of the f/1.8 and for the bokeh effect.

I may have a landscape or two taken with one. I once only used my 50 for a month.

Thanx Chasps for the input...most helpful.
One last thing....would the quality of a nifty fifty in say a stitched panorama be better than a stitched panorama using my existing 17-55 EFS Canon ????

As always Don....most helpful. I think i will just stay with my existing setup.....the thought of saving weight on my travels was a good idea however it doesnt seem to be advantageous in image quality it seems to warrant a change.
Thx again.
