Why did my images get moved out of a gallery ?
 

Hi all,

Hopefully someone might know what's going on here ...

I submitted three photos to the recent "Animals" mission. I had a look at the submitted photos a few times, so I know that my photos were successfully submitted to that section of the gallery.

I've just had a look today and I couldn't find my photos within the "Animals" mission section of the gallery - I checked under "My Stuff" and found that my photos were for some reason no longer reported as part of that section of the gallery :confused:

I know I didn't move my photos so I'm left wondering how this could have happened, and whether my photos were therefore considered as part of the "Animals" mission ?

The moderators have no access beyond a regular user in the galleries, but I will see if I can find out.

I'm very sorry about this. We've looked into it for you and haven't been able to move them back into the Animal category unfortunately. They weren't moved out of the category deliberately.

I can assure you however that we will consider your shots as part of the 'Animal category' when we come to choose a selection of shots to be published in the issue of Digital Camera for that mission.

It looks to me like there are only the images uploaded in the last five days of the competiton still in the Animals folder. I remember thinking there were some really great shots uploaded for that mission so it will be shame if they can no longer be viewed anywhere.

@Sam: Thanks for the response - I wasn't intending to imply that they'd been deliberately moved, I was just trying to find out what might have happened. It might be that there is a bug in the gallery which caused this ? As long as they'll be considered for the "Animal" mission then I'm happy :)

@skyblue: I hadn't noticed that until you'd mentioned it - maybe there is a bug in the gallery where it is only storing images within the previous 5 days. A bit of a problem when the missions last longer than 5 days ...

I just had a look at the images I submitted from my gallery that no longer appear in the comp section and they show in my gallery but when I try to open them I get a message ( you do not have permission to access this page ) , very odd . Also the Category box for those images are blank .

Any ideas Sam ?

1 idea springs to mind Don't use the galleries

Not sure it's just down to the gallery's Alex as all the images are missing after about the last five or six days of the competitions closing date .

I noticed that mine too have gone missing. They are under my images, although it still wont allow me to click on them and view the images.

Lensbaby1 015duds1200, Buterflies 054x800, and Buterflies 020x800. Were originally posted in Hotshots, now the category is blank.

Or perhaps the image gallery part of the forum could be rewritten and maybe while they are at it make it easy to upload photos to a photography forum!! Sorry, I know it's an age old gripe, but it hasn't been mentioned in a while.
