Photographing Rugby Games

Could anyone please give me some advice or tips on photographing rugby games.

how far away will you be and what kit do you have

The member Cathus does a lot of American Football, so I guess he'd be able to give good advice. I haven't seen him on this forum recently, you could see if he's around on [URL="http://cameracraniums.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1127"]Camera Craniums[/URL]

I've photographed a couple of rugby matches.
The big thing is putting yourself in the right place, which can be difficult. I've spent best part of 40 mins in the wrong place in the past and that can be frustrating.
If you know which team is better this can help, but you just never really know where on the pitch the game will be played.
Being near the try line can get some good action shots of scoring a try, but the action can be good elsewhere on the pitch.
A long, fast lens is good for rugby, but I'd avoid converters if you can, I've used them in the past but not anymore. Don't like them.

I stand on the side lines I have a Nikon D7000 using a sigma 18 -250 zoom lens. I cannot afford 2 cameras that is why I use this lens.

Round about the corner flag is a good start, no RAW, continuous shooting, if in doubt, put on Sports programme, take plenty, Ed.
