Re: Yet Another B&w Version

I think I'm getting a lot closer to the dramatic 'cartoon like' version that Mark (Cutter) achieved.

All comments and recommendations welcome!

Re: Yet Another B&w Version

Definitely on the right lines Reinardina , this one has a lot more of that dirty roughness to it that the colour one dose but the dark areas have gone a bit to dark and have lost some of their detail .

I think that your biggest problem is that both you and Mark have done such a good job of your first coloured conversion that it is going to be very hard to match it , the amount of detail that has been retained in the plaster work and the iron reenforcing rods is amazing and I'm not sure you can achieve the same level with a B&W .

I did sneak off with a copy of your second B&W shot so that I could have a play myself but there was no way I could get the same depth of details that the original has but you are heading in the right direction by increasing the contrast and adding some noise , it might help if you added a warm photo filter to help with the grittiness but then your on the same road as a full colour image again .

I'm sorry I'm not being a lot of help but please keep at it , it's one of those shots that deserves it .

Mark

PS . Thanks for keeping me in-touch .

Re: Yet Another B&w Version

Thanks Mark G.

I'm not sure I can do much more with it, but I'll definitely have another try, as you have now spurred me on to try to match Mark's editing skills.

I don't have the same software, so I'm not sure I'll manage it, but, as you say, it's worth trying!

Thanks for aving a go yourself. I have no problems with that whatsoever. I'm secretly glad though, you didn't manage it either!
