By the way does anyone know what the opposite of a silhouette is called .

This is great Mark. Very simple but very effective. The white against the black works really well. Nicely composed too.

I don't think there is a word for the opposite of silhouette is there?
Or is there?

Cheers Chris ,
Luckily the Swan drifted into the shadows but the sun was bright enough to really light him up well , it meant that I could use a fast shutter and large aperture to expose the Swan correctly while under exposing the foreground and background .

Might have to make up our own name for the inverse of silhouette .
