Hello:

I re-entered the world of photography last fall with the purchase of Nikon's "bridge" camera in the P510 with 42x zoom. I have enjoyed the camera and getting back into photography very much. So much so that I have serious thought that I need the options and the lens specific availability of a DSLR.

I have spent some time looking at both the D3200 and the D5200, both which seem labeled as beginner, almost "toy" cameras. However, as a non-professional, hobbyist shooter, I believe these are a good starting point. I have read the specs, watched review videos and priced the two. My novice knowledge of DSLRs says there is little difference for someone who wants only to shoot stills with the camera (video is of little interest to me). except $150 US. Not a lot of money, but I was wondering if that money is better spent in the D5200, or in offsetting the cost of the 55-300mm I would like to get along with the 18-55mm that seems to come as a part of the "kit"

As shooting background, I enjoy shooting outdoor, nature shots, night sky, indoor still life, with the occasional opportunity to use human subjects as well.

Thank you.
Jeff

I have the Lowepro Fastback 200 and have just bought the Hama Traveller tripod for using when abroad. I can fix the tripod into the outer string pocket of my bag but would like to put a strap of some kind around the bag for further security in flight. It will remain with me as hand luggage but I wanted to further secure it. I don't want to buy another bag with this tripod carrying option so wondered if anyone had any ideas what to use. I would use self adhesive velcro but I don't want the tape to be stuck forever on my bag, and I considered a luggage belt but I think it may be too long and cannot be cut. Other than one of my old black leather belts, or string, I can't think of anything! Any ideas guys?

I'm sure this has been talked about before,it has on other forums, but do we know if Lightroom and Elements with be on Adobe's Cloud?
I'm not a pro photographer so can't really afford,or justify, spending money on CS6 or a monthly subscription for Adobe CC. I do however use LR4 and Elements 11. It does everything I need to do,but will I still be able to purchase these in the future.
Part 2 of this question is. Will "My Favorite Magazine" change any of it's tutorials to reflect this change in Adobe's thinking. Im sure many of its readers also wont be able to afford CC. I just wonder what % of readers use Elements etc and NOT CS6 or CC.

I have been asked to photograph an outdoor dog show where there will obviously be fast moving dogs. I have been advised that aperture priority is best to blur the background, but I am worried that using this I will not gain a fast enough shutter speed. Alternatively I can choose manual and set it myself with reasonably high ISO but don't know the best way. I cannot anticipate the british weather either as it might be dull or bright sun. Can anyone advise me on this please? I have a Canon EOS 60D and Canon 70-200mm f4L and Tamron 28-75mm f2.8.

I have also been asked to capture a steam train traveling through my area. Will the same exposing principle apply here also?
Thanks in advance.

Last month I bought what for me is an advanced camera. Figuring out all the functions on a Canon 7D can be a challenge since I don't have a photography background.

I saved a couple hundred bucks getting the camera on line, but now feel guilty when I want to wander down to the local camera store and have them explain something to me. Everything would be cool if I purchased the camera in town. I would be getting my moneys worth in post-sales support.

I did get a relatively expensive tripod and head at the camera store, so I'm not a total schlepp.
