Best portable backdrop for photography: 5 top options for still life photographers
Best Portable Backdrop for Photography: 02 Kenro Small Still Life Table
This small still life table from Kenro is designed for capturing shadowless product photography.
The 60x130cm bendy panel top is secured to a self-assembly aluminium frame, and when it’s disassembled the table packs into a bag for easy carriage.
Kenro also makes a larger version of this table, which measures 100x200cm.
The table enables you to light products in several different ways. One of the easiest options is to set up an external flashlight underneath the table to illuminate the background, and use a fill-in flash to lift the objects out of the resulting silhouette.
You can also secure light heads to the frame using clamps.
After completing the rather complicated task of putting together the aluminium frame and securing the rigid plastic top, we were ready to start shooting.
While the table produced nicely lit images, it does require a fair amount of assembly and it would take up quite a lot of space if you kept it assembled.
While there’s a larger size available, this small table would be adequate for most photographers’ needs, and the price is reasonable.
Pros: Enables you to capture good quality, shadowless product shots
Cons: Rather fiddly and time-consuming to put together and take apart
