Professional Photographer to the Rescue: fashion photography without all the fuss

This shot leaves too much space over her head
Visualise your image in print
When shooting fashion, it is important to visualise how the shot might be used on a page of a magazine. Dave noticed that Fahim in his early shots was leaving far too much space above the model’s head.
In this shot, the subject fills the frame nicely
Dave said that this would always be cropped off, so he should do this before he took the shot to give a stronger picture.
Dave insists you need to have music playing in the background to set the atmosphere for shooting fashion. His laptop, turned on its head for better sound, did the honours as we moved around the stately home.
Don’t look back
Dave explained that ideally, after your first few shots, you need to shoot without looking at the back of the camera, to keep things moving and the mood upbeat.
