New Ricoh cameras we’d like to see in 2013

New Ricoh GXR lens unit revealed

    12. Ricoh GXR-K | Sheer genius!

The Ricoh GXR was widely regarded as the daftest idea ever – a camera with interchangeable cameras! Every time you bought a lens, you had to buy the sensor with it, in a sealed unit that slotted into the body.

But if you actually use one, it’s not daft at all. The GXR’s compactness, extraordinary build quality and excellent controls will almost certainly change your mind.

Thanks to the Pentax-Ricoh tie-in, it’s not certain what the future holds for the GXR, but we don’t want to see it go. And if Pentax-Ricoh has any sense, neither will they.

Which is why we can’t wait to see the Ricoh GXR-K. It’s our old pal the GXR body, but shipped with an APS-C format camera module fitted with a Pentax KAF2 bayonet mount.

You can still use all your old GXR camera units, but you can fit this and twist on Pentax DSLR lenses too. Brilliant – even if we say so ourselves.
