Professional portrait and action photographer James Cheadle tells us: “So Canon has officially launched the 5D Mark III, ending the months of wild speculation on the camera’s specs.
“Coming just weeks after the launch of the 36-megapixel Nikon D800, I think it’s fair to say that many pros were hoping for a bit more than the 22.3-megapixel resolution that the new 5D Mark III offers. I don’t get too caught up in pixel counts, but this is just 1.2 megapixels up on the 5D Mark II.
“Of course, the Canon 5D Mark III also brings extra ISO, a slightly better screen and a quicker motor, but I can’t help thinking that Canon could have offered us all a lot more if they want us to part with another £3000.”

Professional portrait photographer Philip Sowels tells us: “For the general editorial photography we do, both for stills and video, the Canon 5D Mark III looks to be about the perfect all-round camera.
“The Mark III’s 22-megapixel sensor is spot on for our output needs and its balance of 6fps speed and high ISO capabilities will suit our work both in the studio and on location.
“Now, Canon, can we have it for about £500 cheaper please?”
